BMW Through The Years

Welcome To Older BMWs

For the past fifteen years, ClassicTrimCoat has been in the business of treating  oxidized exterior aluminum on BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Jaguar, and many classic American cars. In an effort to promote our products, we have created this website. As we researched BMW's history, we discovered that the early 20s, 30s, and 40s cars had anodized aluminum on them as trim parts. Because these grill and trim parts have become rare and/or expensive to restore, our Oxidized Aluminum Kit has become a necessary and cost effective tool in the restoration of these great old cars. If you spend a little time on this site, you will learn how and why BMW earned the reputation of quality and excellence. From the early cars, after World War 1, to the more recent highly refined cars, BMW has been an innovator and a survivor company.

BMW began in 1916 as a reorganization of Rapp Motorenwerke, an aircraft engine manufacturer that began production before World War I. With the Armistice, the Treaty of Versailles banned the German Air Force and the manufacture of aircraft in Germany, so the company turned to making air brakes, industrial engines, agricultural machinery, tool boxes and office furniture and then to motorcycles and cars. We hope you find the content of this site as interesting as we do.
